Suffolk Public Schools is looking for experienced, fully licensed educators to serve as cooperating teachers and practitioners for field-based experiences.
We invite fully licensed teachers, counselors, and related service providers with at least three years of teaching or practitioner experience to support university students completing observation hours, practicum placements, internships, or student teaching requirements.
Cooperating teachers and practitioners must be recommended by their principal or supervisor and may earn recertification points in accordance with the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) re-licensure manual.

Are you interested in earning professional learning points and completing badges? We have an option for you! You can complete our badging programs asynchronously and create fun learning opportunities for your students. The badges will be available during the summer of 2025.
Register in Frontline, then head to the Instructional Technology Badging Page to complete your choice of 40 badge opportunities. Professional learning points awarded will be based on individual badges completed. All badges must be completed by August 28, 2025. |

Counting Collections: In this activity, you will explore the structure of counting collections, examine resources to support implementation in your classroom, and watch videos of K–3 students engaging in the practice. Counting collections is an accessible and engaging routine that helps all students deepen their understanding of number, strengthen mathematical reasoning, and engage in meaningful math talk. This course is designed for k-3 mathematics teachers. |

How Scaffolding Works: In this asynchronous professional learning, participants will learn the latest research on how to support student learning and how scaffolding works. The webinar encompasses what scaffolding is, when to scaffold, who needs scaffolds, and how long we should scaffold. Take away strategies to move learning forward! Audience: K-12 teachers (all contents and specialties) Presented by Nancy Frey and John Almarode.
Content Literacy: In this activity, participants will explore content literacy and its application in K-5 instruction. The course includes designing and delivering a lesson using the learned strategies, along with reflection questions.
The 5C's through the 5E Learning Model: Explore the 5E learning model with us in this interactive session! Participants will gain a clear understanding of each phase of the instructional cycle and leave with practical strategies to enhance their own lesson planning. Open to all teachers, regardless of grade level or content area. |

Compliance Staff Training: Annual General Safety Practices, Bloodborne Pathogens for School Employees, Back Safety and Safe Lifting, Chemical Spills and Allergies and Anaphylaxis training. All staff must complete this training annually. The course will automatically be marked as complete once all training videos and quizzes are finished.
FERPA & HIPPA: This course provides specific rules as well as suggested guidelines for remaining in compliance with the requirements of the FERPA and HIPAA laws. The course will automatically be marked as complete once all training videos and quizzes are finished.
Erika's Lighthouse Mental Health Training: This training is required for any staff that have not previously completed and uploaded their certificate from Erika's Lighthouse into Frontline. Directions for uploading your certificate to Frontline can be found here.
Seizure Training: This is a free, 75 minute, on demand course which can be accessed online at your convenience. Directions for uploading your certificate to Frontline can be found here. This training is required annually for all staff in regular contact with students. |
