Congratulations …

The Suffolk School Board has named Shawn Green, Ed.D.  as principal of Col. Fred Cherry Middle School, which is currently under construction and will open to students in September 2018.

The board also appointed Shaka Miller as assistant principal at the College & Career Academy at Pruden.

 


Since 2016, Green has been principal of John Yeates Middle School.  Prior to that roles, he was assistant principal at King’s Fork High School for one year, and assistant principal at John Yeates Middle School for eight years.  He was a technology and business teacher in Suffolk for the previous five years.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Norfolk State University, his master’s degree from Old Dominion University, and his doctorate degree from Virginia Tech.

He will continue to serve at John Yeates Middle School until a new principal is selected.


Miller began this school year as Dean of Students at Elephant’s Fork Elementary School, and had been a business teacher in Suffolk for the previous six years.  He earned his bachelor’s degree from Morgan State University, and his master’s degree from Liberty University.
